Danish Ambassador meets with Act! and Civil Society on Peace and Security Initiatives

On 15 October 2015, the Royal Danish Ambassador to Kenya, Ms. Mette Knudsen held a meeting with Act! and her partners to discuss the role of civil society in deepening governance, democracy, peace and security in Kenya.

At the meeting held at Act!’s Mombasa office, the newly appointed envoy to Kenya called on civil society organizations to collaborate with both national and county governments to improve accountability and support government’s effort in addressing security challenges, particularly violent extremism among other security challenges.

“This is an opportunity to take stock of key achievements that my government has had working with civil society and government agencies in promoting peace and security in Kenya. The involvement of civil society is thus critical in championing these initiatives”, she noted.

She thanked Act! for her role in strengthening the capacities of local civil society organizations in responding to different development challenges facing the country. She reiterated her government’s support towards Kenya’s development agenda.
